ABOUT THE VESSEL

Our newest vessel Rip Ryder IV has arrived!

Come aboard our new 32 foot twin engine tour boat. Our new vessel, carrying 20 passengers, will allow us to continue our 18 year tradition of providing you with the best seal cruises Chatham has to offer. Mother nature made some major changes over the fall of 2006 by connecting South Beach to South Monomoy. This new land bridge doesn't allow the seals to come to us, but now our larger vessel allows us to go to them.

On May 5, in Belhaven NC, our new "Rip Ryder II", a 2850 Atlantic made by Privateer Boats, faced the US Coast Guard's Simplified Stability test. This test is conducted by the US Coast Guard to determine just how many passengers the boat can carry. The "Rip Ryder II" is one of the first boats to be tested at the NEW average passenger weight of 185 lbs per passenger, up from 140 lbs.

At the completion of the test the "Rip Ryder II" was approved by the US Coast Guard to carry 20 passengers and one master.

All our boats are United States Coast Guard inspected and certified and are outfitted with state of the art marine electronics including Radar, GPS, Depth Finder and VHF Radio. All our boats pass numerous Coast Guard inspections and tests while they are being built. Each boat also undergoes a yearly safety inspection by the USCG Marine Safety Office. Please feel free to ask our captains about the vessels Certificate of Inspection.

All the Rip Ryder captains have passed the Comprehensive Coast Guard License Exam in addition to other requirements determined by the USCG.
